We are going to stop by Christina's and feed her 4,000 cats, put her rabbit outside, put out some resumes, check on the neighbor's dogs (who are forced to live in small kennels unprotected from the freezing weather), and other stuff.
I'm disappointed I have not heard back from NetStreams. They had an opening for a marketing communications manager, and it sounded like a great job for me. Oh, well. Maybe they will get back to me. I've placed 2 phone calls and 2 EMMs.
We can walk dogs later. Exercise is good for the body and the soul.
IMHO, the hardest work is looking for work. I'm open to most anything, even ditch digging, but they probably wouldn't hire me for that because I am 50.

Thursday, Jan. 25. I took Christina to work, I came back to Doghouse, I prepared to go to Bankers Life, I went, got there early, sat in the car, found the office, waited in the reception area till noon or so. Mostly women in their 20s or 30s, then a black guy maybe 30s... we went in, sat down. I got the seat at the end of the big conference table facing the screen. Talk given by Jorge. I gave him my card and resume at the end, and signed the sheet saying I was interested in selling their insurance products (aimed at those over 65).
I do believe in insurance. I have
1. Health insurance
2. Dental insurance
3. Home insurance
4. Home-stuff insurance (in case the water heater explodes or plumbing work needed)
5. Long-term care insurance.
6. Disability insurance
7. Car insurance.
8. Life insurance.
Drove home hoping to pick up Christina because Thursday is a half day for her, but I missed her.
I stopped at Waterloo Records and sold some of my CDs. Some were worth $2, some $3. The guy said that Cheapo Records would buy ANYTHING, but they would pay almost NOTHING. So I could bring discs to Waterloo, sell what I could, and then take the rejects to Cheapo.
Maybe easier than posting on Craig's list. I've had a problem posting ads on Craig's list.
Then Rich called. He's getting financing from Bill Basore and BB's old boss, David Cunniham, for his (Rich's) Webzine... to be called something like "Automotive Traveler." Rich wanted me to look over some stuff and provide suggestions for improvement. Cool.
I sent him some ideas that I had implemented on VehicleAudioVideo.com.
Rich had planned to do his mag on paper, but, as I expected, costs of paper, printing, and postage were too high, not to mention the cost of printing 10 mags for every 3 sold (Rich's figures).

third entry
Well, this seems to be working. Golly. Aren't gadgets great when they work? I'm working my way through my office in box today. Last night, I worked my way through my study in box (very personal things, like bills)... and I paid my bills. $823 for mortgage, $567 for medical and dental insurance, phone bills for two home lines and cellular phone, utility expenses, life insurance, home security... it adds up. I still have to raid my retirement savings to pay my bills. I need a job. Maybe I should cancel life insurance... or try to change to a cheaper home-security monitoring service. Whoopeedoop!
Some people do life, especially finances, better than I do. That's depressing.

Second entry. Listening to the radio. Waiting for a return call from Petro Shimonishi, VP of marketing for NetStreams (21 miles from Doghouse; MoPac almost all the way). NetStreams makes components that allow audio and video data to go to many rooms in houses and businesses (not to mention allowing control of MANY other things like lighting). Home automation. Custom AV. Internet protocol. Using CAT5e cable. Wonder when it will all go wireless to avoid the problems of wire (like expense). Bluetooth? WiFi? WiFi is IP, no? Maybe?

Will this work? Joy's birthday was yesterday. She would have been 49.
I am scheduled to be 51 sometime next month. Yesterday, I noticed wrinkles around my eyes. How did that happen?
The pencil allows editing. Cool.
